Join me in the Latitude for Art garden for this open house. Bring your art supplies and join other painters in the garden, or contribute to my collaborative Leaving Earth artist book project (materials supplied), which I am creating as part of my Latitude for Art residency.
As a Los Angeles-based painter whose practice feeds off the contradiction of being a landscape painter living in a vast urban sprawl, I find that LA is full of pockets of natural spaces, which reveal the city as a place filled with connections between people and plants. The Latitude For Art Residency in the urban center of LA offers me an opportunity to immerse myself in the communal garden and explore how this natural space and the people that use it will feed into and enrich my work. From November 3rd to 14th, I will be spending my time drawing and painting in the garden. On Sunday, November 9th, I will also be welcoming others to join me for an informal outside painting and drawing session in the garden, where I will also be sharing some of my location-specific artist books.
